It is expected that due to the speed of transmission of the corona virus, more than 5 million companies will experience a sharp decrease in economic growth. Almost half of the affected firms are located in Hong Kong, while the United States, Japan and Germany account for 19 percent. Technology companies such as Amazon, Apple, Google and Twitter asked some of their employees to work remotely.
One of the challenges for many companies is to force their traditional employees to work away without the necessary infrastructure. Because working hours require training for individual and team productivity. People who choose working hours apart from job conditions like this way of working and try to have the highest efficiency and can quickly dedicate themselves to the conditions. According to Bill Devine, a former Google engineer who now works remotely as a consultant and researcher for the company, online communication can be a ground for psychological safety.
He said telecommuting has become a problem for some companies because we have spent the last 120 years learning how to produce people in the workplace just as the push of the railway telegraph failed to change people's minds all at once. The corona virus has shown that there are better ways of doing things.
Some company managers saw the results in disbelief, which were very interesting to them. Increasing employee productivity is a positive point for managers and saves money and time for employees. Close connection with the family, saving the cost of commuting in terms of money and time, more independence in doing things could increase the productivity of employees during telecommuting.
Some big companies such as Twitter encouraged employees to work remotely in the first few months of the start of the Corona virus and finally concluded that employees can continue teleworking as long as they like. Also, other big companies such as Google, Amazon and Facebook announced that their employees can continue their work cycle until next year.
But these changes have made remote work a positive habit in developed countries, people who do not need to be physically present do their work through remote work. The analysis and investigation of the behavior of these people has shown that remote work has not only reduced but also increased productivity.
The thought that may have taken years to convince managers to work remotely through the Corona virus quickly convinced many managers around the world and this is a huge growth in the advancement of telecommuting among companies.
