From the beginning of humanity until today, various jobs had changes that have occurred during different eras.
Modern era (industrial revolution), information era or digital era and era of artificial intelligence and automation. We want to examine the evolution of jobs in these times.
If we want to examine the developments of the last two hundred years. Every era has been able to help humanity grow in solving problems and living better.
These changes can be classified into different eras:
So let's start with the agricultural era.
This era began about ten thousand years ago. Mankind went from hunting and gathering food to agriculture and animal husbandry.
This change caused people to settle, civilizations to form and cities to be built.
This transformation was the first important step in the development of human society.
The Neolithic era was precisely the period when agriculture began and humans gradually moved from a nomadic life to living in villages and primitive cities.
After that, we have gone through ages until we reached the industrial age. For example:
Ancient times or the beginning of civilizations
In this era, with the invention of writing and writing, civilizations were created and humans were able to use metals to make tools and weapons. The same issue caused the formation of great empires.
classic era or era of empires
During this period, great civilizations such as ancient Greece and Rome, ancient Iran (Achaemenid and Sassanid) and Indian and Chinese civilizations were formed.
Scientific and philosophical advances such as the knowledge of mathematics, geometry and medicine were developed.
Medieval period
During the Middle Ages, empires fell and a new social structure was based on land ownership and the centralized power of lords.
Churches and the religion of Christianity (in Europe) and Islam (in the Middle East and North Africa) have a great influence on the government and society.
Many societies at that time were more engaged in civil and regional wars.
Renaissance period and discoveries
Renaissance was a period of cultural and scientific revival in Europe that came along with scientific, artistic and philosophical developments.
Also, the era of great discoveries was accompanied by the discovery of new continents by Europeans.
Great advances were made in the fields of art (such as da Vinci and Michelangelo) and science (such as Galileo and Newton).
The discovery of America by Christopher Columbus and the beginning of the colonization of European countries in other parts of the world.
After the Renaissance, the Industrial Age was formed.
The industrial revolution began in the 18th and 19th centuries. Machines and mass production replaced manual and simple work.
The modern era refers to the era after the Renaissance and before the information age, which is called the industrial age.
People migrate from villages to cities and societies become highly industrialized and centralized.
This era led to increased production and consumption, as well as the emergence of new social classes.
The industrial revolution was the biggest change in human history. During this era, machines replaced human labor and manufacturing industries expanded widely.
This change caused societies to move from agriculture to industrialization and big cities and factories were formed.
With the emergence of factories and new technologies, people migrated from villages to cities.
Gradually, new social classes were formed and the global economy was affected by industrial changes.
During this era, science and technology developed rapidly.
Important discoveries were made in physics, chemistry, and biology, some of which led to scientific and medical revolutions.
Concepts such as democracy, human rights and individual freedoms were developed in Western societies and led to political and social changes in many parts of the world.
The information age or digital age refers to the period associated with the emergence of computers, the Internet, and new communication technologies.
This period started from the end of the 20th century and especially from the 90s with the boom of the Internet and digital technologies.
Communication became faster and information became available in an unprecedented way.
The global economy changed and we moved towards the digital world. The emergence of new jobs and skills related to technology.
The Internet not only changed the way people communicate, but also quickly became a new platform for business, information and entertainment.
Social networks, websites and new applications allow us to communicate instantly and uninterruptedly with the rest of the world.
The Internet gave rise to e-commerce, and businesses and markets increasingly moved into the digital space.
Companies like Amazon, Google and Facebook have become global giants.
In this era, data and information are considered as a valuable resource.
The storage and analysis of big data allows organizations and businesses to make better decisions and find new markets.
The advent of digital media and the Internet has made cultures, languages, and customs more rapidly shared globally.
In a way, the Internet caused the globalization of cultures and geographical boundaries became less.
We are now in a period called the era of artificial intelligence.
Machines are no longer used only for production or calculation, but by using big data and complex algorithms, they can make decisions, recognize patterns and even be creative.
This evolution is somehow integrating with all aspects of our life, from medicine to economy and even art and culture.
Artificial intelligence systems have reached sophisticated capabilities in data processing, pattern analysis, and even decision making.
These technologies are used in fields such as medicine, finance, production, transportation and even art.
AI systems are capable of performing tasks that previously required human intelligence, such as diagnosing diseases, natural language processing, and forecasting financial markets.
Robots and automated systems are replacing humans in many jobs, including manufacturing, transportation, and even customer service.
These technologies have helped to reduce costs and increase productivity in various industries.
Especially in factories and production lines, machines continue to work without human intervention.
Self-driving cars have become one of the clear examples of technological advancements in this era.
Using sensors, AI algorithms and big data processing, these cars can move autonomously and make decisions similar to humans.
With the advancement of artificial intelligence and automation, new jobs will be created, but at the same time, many traditional jobs will disappear. This transformation creates challenges in the field of education, entrepreneurship and redistribution of human resources.
The need for new skills in the fields of technology and data mining has increased.
The development of AI and robotics has raised new ethical and philosophical questions, including concerns about privacy, automated decision-making, and the future of human work.
Some worry that AI may progress uncontrollably and pose a threat to jobs and even social security.
In each of the modern eras, information era and artificial intelligence era, there have been many changes in the labor market and jobs.
In each of these eras, previously existing jobs have been eliminated and new jobs have been created that respond to new technological, social, and economic needs.
In the following, we will examine this issue in detail
What jobs were created and eliminated in each era?
Create jobs
Eliminate jobs
Create jobs
Eliminate jobs
Create jobs
Eliminate jobs
In each of these eras, the evolution in technology and new economic needs have led to major changes in the labor market.
In the modern era, the industrial revolution led to an increase in labor and industrial jobs.
In the information age, jobs related to information technology and digital were formed.
In the era of artificial intelligence and automation, jobs related to artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation came to work.
While many traditional and manual jobs were eliminated over time.
These developments indicate the need to adapt to the new world and new skills.
