What tips should you follow to increase the speed of your WordPress site or any other type of site?
Stay tuned with Itrouz for important tips on increasing site speed. If you think site speed is not very important, you are wrong.
Site speed increases search engine rankings and also increases user retention on the site, resulting in increased site traffic, which is very important.
Unfortunately, if you don't think about increasing your site's speed from the beginning, you will see a further decrease in speed over time as the site expands and information is added to it, which has a direct impact on the site's ranking.
So think about your site speed from the start.
In this article, we are trying to introduce you to some important tips for increasing site speed that can increase your site speed without any knowledge of web design and SEO.
If you still think that increasing site speed is not important, then take a look at the statistics below.
This statistic may not be tangible in small numbers, but it is very important on a large scale. For example, after Mozilla made its page loading speed 2.2 seconds faster, Firefox browser downloads increased by 60 million.
Amazon also calculated that every second saved in loading could impact $1.6 million in annual sales.
We may not all have websites as big as Amazon, but site speed is of utmost importance.
Increasing site speed is a complex issue that involves many factors.
In this article, we are going to examine some of them that do not require knowledge of web design and SEO.
What are the important points for increasing site speed? How to evaluate it? Join us today to solve this issue.
How to check site speed? You can use Pingdom and Gtmetrix to view site speed and check its different parts.
Both sites are among the best site analysis and optimization sites. After logging in, enter your site address in the URL field.
One of the reasons affecting site speed is the use of low-quality hosting.
Which affects not only the speed of the site but also the security of the site.
Another point is to use shared hosting to display information.
In shared hosting, hosting resources are shared between many sites, and if one site crashes due to overload, it negatively affects other sites.
A better option is to use a VPS server, which has fewer sites on it and resources are divided equally between all parts and do not cause any interference.
And dedicated servers, where there are no other sites on them and all resources are yours, are the best option for increasing site speed through host and server selection.
We reviewed the types of website hosting above, but it is not just the hosting that is important, but the use of host and server technologies is also very important.
For example, does your server or host use the latest versions of HTML, PHP, and so on?
Is the hard drive speed SSD?
How much memory does it have and other things that affect site speed.
The last point for hosts and servers is the location of the host or server.
The closer the user's requested information is to the server or host, the faster the site will load.
For example, a site hosted or server operated in Iran will load much faster for a user accessing it from Iran than for a user accessing it from Australia.
In the following article, we will introduce you to important tips for increasing site speed and methods for increasing speed that will solve this problem.
Remember, if you use frameworks for website design or online store, always use the latest versions of web software such as PHP, HTML, etc. Also, if you use content management systems such as WordPress, etc., be sure to update them because updated versions of CMS perform best with new versions of web services.
Good hostings have good configuration on their PHP and web service, and this helps you increase the loading speed of your site.
This point is very important for content management and store systems because each update fixes system bugs and weaknesses and improves system performance.
Updates not only play an important role in site performance but also increase site security.
Therefore, if you use content management systems and online stores, be sure to keep the system and plugins up to date.
Note that before updating the site, be sure to back it up, and if you do not have sufficient information and experience in this matter, be sure to seek help from an expert in this field.
One of the most important factors in increasing site speed that plays a decisive role is the template of the site or online store.
In content management system templates, most people like to use popular templates, most of which are like puffed-up brooms.
There are many features in these templates, which has increased the number of lines of coding and programming in the template.
Using various APIs and services, many of which may not be necessary for us but are always running.
In order to attract the majority of users, ready-made WordPress templates offer many features in the template, such as multiple header and footer designs and different sections, but these additional coding and programming slow down the site.
When designing a template, special attention should be paid to the front end and back end.
In the back end, there are factors that slow down the site and negatively affect the speed of its user interface, which vary depending on the frameworks, CMSs, or programming languages you use.
But we are talking more about the front-end section, and we recommend that you custom design the site template to increase site speed.
In custom website design, even if the designer wants to use ready-made items and doesn't put too much effort into designing and coding, the number of lines and use of services is still less compared to ready-made templates.
In designing websites and stores, if frameworks and content management systems are not used, database architecture plays a more important role in increasing site speed. If site expansion is not planned in the database architecture, when the number of site users and information increases, the site speed will decrease, but this can be controlled in content management systems.
You can manage and optimize your database using various plugins, the best of which are WP-Optimize or WP-Sweep.
In the following, we will teach you important tips for increasing site speed. As you know, different technologies are used in each site, which you can examine through the Pingdom software described above, and examine the strengths and weaknesses of your site and find solutions to fix them.
Every time you visit a site, information is requested from the server through the browser. This information includes content, scripts, images, etc.
The greater the number of requests, the longer it takes to check and transfer them from the server to the browser, and the longer the site loading time.
If you use content management systems like WordPress, reduce the number of posts displayed on the page.
To apply the changes, log in to the WordPress admin panel, click on the Reading option from the Settings section, and reduce the number of posts and feeds displayed. Also, set the Show feeds check box from all posts to Summary.
If you receive a large number of comments in WordPress, it is better to divide them into smaller sections. To do this, click on Discussion in the Settings section and enable nested comments.
To reduce server requests, it is better to disable plugins that are not used much and if you use services such as Google Fonts and Java libraries that may not be used on your site, disable them.
One of the important tips for increasing site speed is image optimization.
On most sites, images make up the largest portion, and their size is certainly larger than codes and CSS, so it takes more time to load them.
If you use WordPress, be sure to pay attention to two things.
Image dimensions and image optimization.
In some templates, the displayed images are larger than what is displayed on the site. For example, the image dimensions are 150 x 150 but are displayed at 50 x 50, which causes more time to be required to load the images.
Note that all images will be uploaded at their actual size.
The next point is optimizing images and reducing the size of images. You can reduce the size of images with various software, but there are very useful plugins in this field that can reduce the size of images.
If you want to use a plugin to reduce the size of your images, we recommend WP Smush and EWWW Image Optimization.
Using videos consumes your bandwidth heavily, and if you are using shared hosting and limited resources, most of it will be spent on loading and displaying videos.
And most importantly, there are super fast video display services like YouTube, Vimeo, and similar Persian equivalents, which you can upload your videos through and call up on your site.
One of the most important and effective ways to increase site speed is to use cache.
As you know, when a user visits your website through a browser, an HTML version of it is displayed. Many parts of the HTML code do not need to be called on every request and are better cached.
If you use WordPress, we recommend the WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, and WP Rocket plugins.
But if your site is private, it is better to store and manage each of the site's caching methods in the form of an htaccess file.
CDN stands for Content Delivery Network, meaning content distribution network.
If you remember, at the beginning of the article we talked about how information is sent and the impact of the location of the server or host in the world. If our host or server is in Iran, Iranian users will view the site faster than Australian users because the information is located in Iran and is visible to Iranian users faster than Australian users.
Before you start, to better understand this topic, you can log in to the Pingdom website and view your site's loading time by selecting different geographical locations.
As you can see in the image below, on the left, all users from anywhere in the world must connect to the main server to access the site's information, and one server is responsible for all users in any geographical location, but in the image on the right, users receive information from the nearest server.
The content distribution network loads your site's information on various servers around the world, and when a user requests to view the site from a specific geographical location, the content distribution network selects the server closest to the user to display the information, thus increasing the site's loading speed.
Popular CDN services include MaxCDN, Amazon Cloudfront, and Cloudflare.
As mentioned earlier, you need to reduce server requests to display information faster. The best way to reduce files is to convert them into fewer, larger files.
If you are a website developer, be sure to use the tips provided in website design, and if you use content management systems like WordPress, you can use the Autoptimize plugin.
Minifying files can have a huge impact on increasing site speed.
As mentioned earlier, the fewer the number of lines of coding and programming, the faster the site loads.
Minify means reducing lines of code and scripts.
If you are a site developer, after implementing the site, be sure to minify various coding sections such as HTML and CSS, as well as various site scripts.
But if you are a WordPress user, we recommend the W3 Total Cache plugin.
The methods presented were important tips for increasing site speed, and by following the above tips, you can increase the speed of your site.
