What is a directory, what is a web directory or Internet directories? , types of directories, directory portals,
We are familiar with directories, notebooks that we search through when we are looking for something.
Directories can specialize in one subject or they can cover a variety of topics.
For example, a job directory is a classified directory of job groups in which jobs include descriptions and contact information in the form of job names, and people can search for the jobs they need by referring to that directory.
In the world of the Internet, the structure of directories has not changed much, but their use has changed slightly, which I will examine today.
What are directories and lists in the Internet world and what is their use?
Internet directories or web directories are a way to introduce websites to users.
Websites are placed in these directories according to their subject matter, and users can easily view websites that operate in that field by entering the desired group.
Directories or indexes work like search engines, but there is one major difference between the two.
As mentioned, a web directory is a website that is managed by people, but search engines are reviewed and categorized by internet robots.
As a result, search results in web directories are more relevant than search engines.
Registering your site link in web directories or listings makes it easier for people to find and access your website in the context of your activity, which increases website traffic.
There are different types of directories, which I will review below.
Registering links and site descriptions in these directories is free.
Most web directories register site links in two ways: free as explained above and paid.
This means that registering a link in the directory involves a fee.
A few major differences between free and paid link registration are in the type of link provided.
1. The type of display in the directory. When a link is registered for a fee, it is also visible in most sections of the directory and in the directory search engine, but free registration does not have this advantage.
2. Backlinks help a website to get better results in search engine results, and getting backlinks from high-ranking websites is important. That's why by registering a free link to a website in a web directory, it is registered, but it is not considered a backlink.
Directory portals have several capabilities.
Directory portals are mostly designed for searching for businesses and provide good facilities to business owners.
In the directory portal, in addition to registering a link in the directory, you can place an ad related to your business or features that help your business, which can be different in each directory portal.
In the descriptions and introductions of the directories above, there is no need to exchange links, but some directories register your site address through link exchange.
In these directories, after registering the link information and description, you must place the directory on your site so that the link exchange operation can be completed successfully. Otherwise, the web directory will not register your site address.
